West Wales Wagon Works

No: N005: G D Owen of Cardigan

No: N005: G D Owen of Cardigan

No: N005: G D Owen of Cardigan

Released December 7th 2005

This is another wagon that I had made for the 00-gauge market back in 2002.  There is a lime wagon that goes with this coal version, but as yet Dapol have not produced the lime wagon in N.

The coal wagon was delayed due to technical problems with the production of the printing plates.

The photograph shows the wagon as displayed on the Dapol web site.

Based on the Cardigan and Whitland Railway, the original wagons would have worked as far as the docks at Burry Port, LLanelli or Swansea to pick up coal.

Apparently, Owen's, based at Glogue near Crymych but with their head office in Cardigan station area, used to drop off a wagon at places such as Boncath, so that customers could wheel their barrows up to buy a barrow-load of coal!

Just 93 models were produced.  Last one sold on 25 March 2007
