This milk tanker wagon may at first appear unusual due to the fact that it bears absolutely NO MARKINGS.

No fancy labels like "Express Dairies"; "Slower Dairies" etc

The reason is that towards the end of their life, and the life of the many rural branch lines in areas like West Wales, these six wheel milk tanker wagons became just black with dirt and grime.  Who would have thought that initially they were silver-bodied tanks!

Some modellers may like to add their own transfers to give an identity to them, but like the accompanying photographs show, in the real world of the 1950's to early 1970's, these wagons were just grimy black.

The two photographs show typical trains of the period with milk tankers in their consist.  The smaller photo is believed to be at Llandyssul - on the branch off the Carmarthen to Lampeter route, whilst the larger one was taken at Hemyock in Devon.

Whilst the initial batch of 100 tankers were sold out in just over a month, a further batch were produced by Dapol in March and then, to satisfy customer demand, a final batch of fifty, which Dapol delivered in June.

A total of 205 wagons have been delivered from Dapol

Quantity:  at  £0.00  each
