This is a coal wagon used in the New Cross Hands Colliery which lay between Carmarthen and Llanelli in South West Wales.
The New Cross Hands Colliery was based at the head of the LLanelly Railway & Dock Co's line which ran from the docks at Llanelli to Cross Hands via Pantyffynon and opened in 1841.
From the 1890's all coal, more or less, went down the L&MMR line to Llanelli docks after it was opened, through Tumble, Mynydd Sylen and Felinfoel. The lower stretches of this route were used until the 1990s by Cynheidre colliery.
There were several collieries in the area with similar names.
