Due to my not ordering anything for a while, a gap in the early part of 2005 arose and I wanted to fill it. I picked on doing a hopper wagon as seen in the Gloucester Carriage & Wagon Works book.
Simply inscribed with the name "BLAENAVON" and a running number, it seemed to be an easy thing to produce using transfers.
Never again.
I got about 50 transfers done and ordered 40 of the hoppers from Dapol. Only then did I find that the spacing of the letters between the ribbing on the wagon body did not quite fit as easily as initially perceived.
Which is why only 40 of these materialised. I had planned on doing a lot more!
I did try to ensure perfection, but it did not always prove to be the case, there were several casualties, but fortunately I was able to get 39 good ones out to customers.
Don't mention "Blaenavon" to me - please.
