West Wales Wagon Works

No: 20: Elizabeth Meredith Jones

No: 20: Elizabeth Meredith Jones

No: 20: Elizabeth Meredith Jones

Unusual in that it bears the name of a woman (the only other one known by me being "Rose Richards of Swansea" - see below ), "Elizabeth Meredith Jones" was a small coal merchant based in the slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog in North Wales, and used the GW branch from Bala to receive supplies of coal.

This reddish brown wagon was produced using transfers for the running numbers - normally single digits - enabling modellers to have several wagons with differing identities.

160 wagons were produced in August 2004

Last one sold in September 2005

An update to the "Rose Richards" wagon - I have learnt that in fact it was a man, whose surname was Rose-Richards!
