This was the first of two identical wagons - apart from the running number which in this case was "712".
All the coal loads were coated with sand which came from the Poppit Sands beach which is located on the estuary of the Afon Teifi near Cardigan.
The wagon was aimed at the many tourists visiting both the beach and the Teifi Valley Railway, and proved so popular that it led to a second wagon - see the Historical list - the photo is of one of the latter wagons.
One of these "712" wagons sold on Ebay for £55 in January 2008 - not a bad return for an investment!
