Another classic Southern branch line locomotive in its BR Southern Region black livery.
So versatile was this locomotive type, that in BR days - as class A1X - it was used on various branches and in locomotive works, or as station pilot duties. Famously, the class lived on at Havant working the Hayling Island branch, which required three locomotives. One waiting at each end, whilst the third worked the train. Those were the days before accountants were even born.
This loco is numbered 32677 - although the photo is of 32640.
